RFID readers fall into two broad categories: fixed readers that automate reads at chokepoints, and handheld readers that put mobility in the operator's hands. Most mature deployments use both.

Fixed readers

Mounted at dock doors, conveyors, and portals, fixed readers capture reads automatically as tagged items pass—perfect for high-throughput receiving, shipping verification, and zone tracking with no operator effort.

Handheld readers

Handheld RFID readers excel at cycle counting, asset verification, and locating specific items. Many pair RFID with a 2D barcode imager so a single device handles both data-capture methods.

Which should you choose?

  • Fixed: automated, hands-free reads at known chokepoints
  • Handheld: flexible, mobile reads and item location
  • Hybrid: most operations benefit from combining both

Our team can survey your site and recommend the right mix of fixed and handheld readers, antennas, and tags for reliable coverage.
